Will i get skin cancer from only tanning for one time as needed?

   Exposure to UV rays is not the cause of skin cancer it is a risk factor and you can get skin cancer with relatively little to no sun exposure. About a year ago we had a 4 month old baby with melanoma.

   if you got skin cancer everytime you went in a tanning bed why would anyone use them? I think prolonged use of them can c ause cancer but thats it.

   The honest answer is – we don’t know.

   There is evidence that the use of tanning beds etc can lead to an increased risk of skin cancer.

   There is no clear cut level of exposure identified as yet. Maybe it is once, maybe it is 100 times – we just don’t have all the information yet.

   It is amazing how brainwashed Americans are about the supposed danger of the sun or tanning beds. You don’t have to worry about cancer, but perhaps some std or other disease from a bed that was not properly cleaned.

   The sun is not our enemy. If we got cancer every time we were exposed to the sun for a few hours, there would not be a human left on earth. The exact opposite is true. Exposure to the sun allows us to manufacture vitamin D on our skin. Ten minutes in a bathing suit at noon will make up to 5,000 IU of vitamin D. Vitamin D has been found to prevent up to 75 percent of cancer. You don’t want to get sunburned, but don’t be afraid of the sun.

   it will increase your chance of GETTING skin cancer,although probably not all that much just once.davew79 doesn’t know anything,there are numerous studies that show that tanning beds are one of the leading causes of skin cancer
