why are plastic surgeons recommended for removing moles on the face?
i’ve heard that moles on the face are generally handled by plastic surgeons as opposed to dermatologists? why is this?

I havent heard about that. The ones my family has had on their face and needed to get removed were done so by the dermatologist.
Reason is that they do this everyday. In comparison to a general surgeon who common procedures like appendicitis. Would you want a general surgeon to do facial work when he is dealing with vital organs everyday. Plastic surgeon who does this everyday has proper technique, they are aware of exactly what direction to cut on the face so that the area heals quickly and does not present with any scars. There are other type of surgeons such as vascular, burn, orthopedic…they all have their individual specialty. You would not want your son’s English teacher teaching math. While she might know how to solve the problem, it could be the long method. Maybe there is a more efficient way of solving the problem that the math teacher could present.
Since the face such a prominent area, I highly recommend finding a plastic surgeon experienced specialty with the facial area. Also, have you gotten the mole checked by a primary care physician to make sure that nothing else is involved. I don’t know if this is something you were born with, something new, or result of any other condition. There is so much to it.
Plus, before you get it removed consulting with a primary care physician can be helpful because I don’t know your age, other health concerns, etc.
