My dog has a small brown spot that I thought was a mole. It use to be flat and now it is raised a bit.?
It did this once before. I thought it was an embedded flea but it shrunk back down and looked like a mole. Is this a mast cell? It is between his hind legs on the hairless part of his belly. He’s a miniature dachshund age 6. The skin around it is fine, not red or swollen. Anybody have any thoughts on this. I will take him to the vet in the morning, but I’d like to not worry so much tonight. Thanks!

Sounds like a mole to me. Could just be getting slightly swollen if he catches it on something or scratches his belly a bit vigorously. Best to take him to the vet to check, like you said, but this doesn’t sound like anything that could possibly be life-threatening overnight! Our old dog (12 years old) has moles on his belly and they’ve never caused any problems.
P.S. It’s not one of his nipples is it. Dead embarrassing to go to the vet just to be told it’s a nipple
Well, my last dog had the same problem and it turned out to be cancerous! It was on her paw and was pretty big. Good thing your having your dog checked in the morning! (Sorry, I probably didn’t help your worrying…)
You should take your dog to the vet just to be on the safe side.
Well, because dogs age so rapidly (your dog is around 42 years old in human years), it is very probable that this is a cancerous growth. I would bring him/her to the veterinarian to have it checked out.
How long’s it been there? I had like an ingrown hair on my chest for like a year. Doctor to me to quit licking – er I mean picking at it.
Could be a spider bite. Some of those take months to go away.
I’m allegic to deer ticks and I get a bump for a month or two from those.
One of my dogs had a lump on his chest and I was frantic!
It was just benign cyst. He finally died of cancer – at 14.
Didn’t show a sign until a week before.
It’s probably nothing.
P.S. It’d been nice if that first one’d had included the end of the story.
My dog has something that sounds simillar on her leg. The vet told us it was a tumor but it shouldn’t hurt her. Sounds like this might be what your sog has but I wouldn’t worry too much, just make sure you get her to the vet.

Only a vet can tell you what it is. I don’t think you need to worry tonight.
