im 21, african american female and i developed pityriasis rosea that has spread all over my chest, back, neck, face, upper thighs, (groin and butt area) i also had a lesion on my perineum area and on my labia minora <– i thought maybe this was "inverse pityriasis" and ive read that the skin disease can affect the african american race and children differently. my herald patch is also located on my FACE….?!?! this is considered atypical… ive been having alot of scaly lesions appear on my face. they all itch! it’s not syphillis,ive had this checked out by a doctor.
the genital lesions scare me a bit. i didnt have any type of pain with them unless i urinated. it would sting but thats it. it didnt hurt to touch them. i went to planned parenthood and got it checked out and they said it was herpes. she gave me acyclovir which did not help heal the lesions any faster. i didnt mention the pityriasis rosea because i wasnt sure if they had anything to do with each other but i know a possible cause for PR is the human herpes virus type 7.. the skin lesions of PR and the genital leisons all appeared around the same time. the genital lesions (only had two, one on the perineum and one on the labia minora were both a circular or oval shape) they did heal after a while but i have a teeny tiny mole looking dot where they used to be and my labia minora is scarred… the skin has never returned back to normal as it should if it were genital herpes.. i have been told and ive also read that it does not scar. my skin lesions are leaving dark dots or hyperpigmintation as they heal too. im confused! could this all be because of the pityriasis rosea or could i have somehow contracted the hhv 7 and hsv 2 viruses at the same time??
i dont know how i would have gotten hsv 2 (unless ive had it for a reeeeally long time and never had any type of indication it was there) my bf and i are faithfully to each other! (im NOT nieve, just know that we are!)
also when i called planned parenthood to tell them about the spots or lesions popping up all over my body the lady said that i needed to consult an MD about that because genital herpes would not cause this! soooo… what is?!?! ive never felt sick through out this entire ordeal, just a headache, and a stinging/burning sensation ALL OVER which is usually where i notice a skin lesion will surface. (i asked my doctor if it was normal to feel the pins & needle sensation or prickly feelings with PR and she said "Absolutely." i guess since there is no cure for PR that my only option is to wait it out. my doctor told me that reoccurence for PR is rare so i guess i could wait to see if i ever get another recurrence in my "private area" ?!?! that would be a huge sign of whether or not it really is genital herpes or if it is from PR right? I hope it’s the PR!!!!! one more thing, i know that PR is not contagious and no one in my family as gotten it from me, my boyfriend has not gotten PR and has not developed any sores on or around his genitals. please, any thoughts on this??? serious answers please! sorry this is so long, but thank you!
